So you’re loving life in Walt Disney World, riding all the rides, meeting all the characters, but suddenly you realise you’re just a wee bit hungry and it’s still a few hours until your dinner reservation. Dilemma!!
However you don’t need to panic as there are still lots of snacks we can enjoy at Disney that are gluten free – yay! Here are some of my favourites in the parks and resorts.
Dole Whip – Aloha Isle, Magic Kingdom and Pineapple Lanai, Polynesian Village Resort
Everyone loves a Dole Whip! The good news is that this pineapple soft serve is gluten free. You can have it as it comes, mix with vanilla, or add a splash of pineapple juice and call it a float. The choice is yours.
Beignets – Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, Port Orleans French Quarter
The Port Orleans resorts are two of my favourite on property and the fact that I can have beignets for breakfast makes them even better! You have to request that they make these gluten free for you but the chef will gladly oblige. You can order them in a portion of three or six and add a dipping sauce if you choose. I had never had beignets before trying them here and now I’m addicted! Luckily I’ve found a place at home that makes them too – yay! (Review: Wild Flours Gluten Free Bakery)
Zebra Domes – Boma and The Mara, Animal Kingdom Lodge
I don’t really have words to describe Zebra Domes apart from heavenly! These are available only at Animal Kingdom Lodge and you have to request them to be made gluten free. If you are in Boma the chef will happily make you them for dessert and if you go to The Mara you can just request them to be made gluten free at the counter where you order. DON’T take the pre-made ones out of the fridge as they won’t be gluten free.
Ice Cream or Sorbet – L’Artisan des Glaces, French Pavilion in Epcot
The ice cream and sorbet from here is perfect to cool down on a hot Florida afternoon. They have a huge variety of flavours and you can sit outside the shop or continue your stroll through World Showcase. Either way, it’s perfect.
Snacks with Character – property wide
These Snacks with Character are available across property. This pack of chocolate chip cookies was amazing for snacking on in my room, or while watching the animals from our veranda at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Mickey Bars – property wide
This iconic Disney snack is a must have on any Disney trip. They are amazing and really good to cool down on a hot day. Just watch out for the melting chocolate!
There are so many different snacks to try at Walt Disney World that I probably haven’t tried them all, although I have tried to make my way through the ones I know are gluten free! Have I missed your favourite? Please let me know in the comments.
