Since relaunching my blog last year I’ve been so grateful for all the support I’ve received. It’s been so lovely to reconnect with people in the gluten free and wider blogging community. I felt that The Gluten Free Cheerleader can sometimes be a bit faceless and I wanted to give you all the chance to get to know me a bit better. I saw this A to Z challenge from a few years ago on a few blogs and thought I would give it a try!

A is for Active

I am such an active person. I am always doing some kind of physical exercise, even if it isn’t your typical “go to the gym and work out” type of exercise.

B is for Blogging

I know that is so predictable but blogging is how I’m choosing to use the writing skills I gained at university. It has also been really helpful since my coeliac diagnosis since it encourages me to eat out more as I want to write about the places I go!

C is for Coffee and Cake

Two things I love. Especially together. Especially if the cake is gluten free.

D is for Disney

I love Disney and once wrote an essay in high school about my dream job working for Disney. In 2014 I made that dream a reality and worked at Walt Disney World in Florida on the Cultural Representative Programme.

Kathryn outside Rose and Crown pub
Working at the Rose and Crown in EPCOT was a dream.

E is for Energy

See A. I need to have tons of it to maintain my active lifestyle. Sometimes, when I’m falling asleep in the middle of the day I wonder how I’ll have the energy for whatever I have planned in the evening. I always find it somehow – but don’t ask me where, because I don’t know!

F is for Friends

I love having a wide circle of friends as you have friends for every occasion! There’s always someone to go to a concert with, or the theatre, or even just catch up with over wine or coffee.

G is for Gardens

I am really not in to gardening, but I can appreciate a good one and I like sitting out in nice gardens with a good book.

H is for Hair

I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. It’s very thick, and frizzy and pretty unmanageable at times. I’ve been growing it over the past few years and I’m definitely at more of a “love” stage with it as the weight of it pulls it down and stops it being so frizzy – yay! I’ve actually recently taken a big step and changed my hairdresser after over 15 years going to the same salon and love having the freedom to change my style up if I want to.

I is for Imagination

I think Imagination is so important. We need to dream and let our creative juices flow.

J is for Juice

Juice is basically everything whether it’s fizzy juice (aka pop or soda) or diluting juice (aka squash). I don’t know why, but it’s all just called juice.

K is for Kat

Kat is the nickname my grandpa gave me when I was wee and wanted to be like Cat Deeley. I know, I’m so cool.

L is for Lipstick

I actually love lipstick, it’s probably my favourite item of makeup. I always take advantage of the L’Oreal offers when I’m buying makeup and end up with a free lipstick. Win win situation.

Top Hat
Top Hat was the most recent show I performed in.

M is for Musical Theatre

Possibly my greatest passion in life. Watching it, being in it, even just listening to it. I discovered Encore Radio last year and love getting ready in the morning to all my favourite show tunes. I recently recorded my Favourite 5 for Encore and you can listen to that here.

N is for Northern Lights

Seeing the Northern Lights is a biggie on my bucket list. I’d love to experience them. I’ve got an app which gives me alerts when it’s likely that the Aurora is going to be visible but I live in a brightly lit area and don’t always have the free time to drive somewhere to see them.

O is for Opera

I used to take part in the Scottish Opera summer schools as a kid and that’s definitely what started me off loving theatre. Recently my mum and I went to see a professional opera just to see if we liked it. We did and hope to go see more. It’s always good to branch out from what you know.

P is for Pirouettes

I love a good pirouette.

Q is for Quiz Shows

We love quiz shows in our house. Our favourite is Pointless but we also like Only Connect.

R is for Reading

I’ve loved to read since I was little and I’m so glad to still be passionate about it today. You can read about what I read in 2017 here.

S is for Snowboarding

This is a skill I learned last year and I’m so proud of myself. It took a lot of confidence to get started but I did it and now I love it.

This is actually me snowboarding in Les Deux Alpes in March 2018

T is for Twitter

I’m pretty addicted to twitter and I use it to post my thoughts throughout the day. It’s my own little space where I can just post and I don’t care if no one reads it. You can find me on Twitter @ikathrynxoxo

U is for Unique

Which I am.

V is for Voice

I have quite a loud voice and it definitely took me a few years to realise this. Apologies to everyone I irritated during that time! It’s quite funny as I think of myself as being quiet, unless I know you when I guess I become loud!

W is for Wicked

My all time favourite musical. I’ve seen it 17 times over eleven years in five different cities – London, New York, Los Angeles, Manchester and Edinburgh. I love it.

X is for X-Rays

Is there anything else an X would be for? I’ve had quite a lot of X-rays as I’m pretty accident prone. I also get them regularly at the dentist.

Y is for Yellow

Yellow is my second favourite colour after pink. I’m super girly and feel yellow is quite a neutral colour but I love it.

Z is for Zebras

Zebras are one of my favourite animal. When I stayed in Animal Kingdom Lodge at Disney I LOVED being able to sit on my balcony and watch the Zebras on the savannah.

So that’s me! Some things you may have known, and others maybe not. Please feel free to do your own and share your link in the comments!
