Let’s talk running. Last year I ran the Paisley 10K. I trained for it and was really pleased with my time, but I feel I could have done better so I’ve signed up again.
No lies, I am regretting it a bit now with only five weeks to go and let’s not even mention the fact I haven’t been out running since the last Paisley 10K.
I decided to start a weekly run diary to share my training progress, and also motivate myself to get out and push myself.
So here goes.

Week One Run One
I started off easy. There was no point in going right out there and trying to run 10K. Although I haven’t been for a run in almost a year, I’ve still been active so shouldn’t be too unfit.
I ran a loop around my estate which turned out to be 2.2km in just over 15 minutes. If I’m honest I was pretty impressed with this as I had an average pace of 7:03 per km which is good for me! My ankles were absolutely killing me after only about half a kilometre so I was glad I stuck to a short loop.

Week One Run Two
Another short one. I’ve recently moved house so I’ve been trying to scope out good routes and figure out distances. There are playing fields nearby so I thought I would do a lap around them and work out the distance, to see how many times I would need to run round them to do a 5 or 10K.
It works out that the lap around the fields is around 1.5KM so three laps, plus there and back, would be just over 5K. Not bad.
This run was 2.66km but I dropped my pace a little to do it in just over 20 minutes. I slowed down once I reached the field to screenshot my distance, and then had to screenshot it again as I finished the lap so I knew what distance I’d covered between the two pictures. Although I use my fitbit to track, I always set it up through the app and not on the actual device so I have to get my phone out to actually see the distance covered.

This week was just about getting out and getting my body used to running again. I ordered new bluetooth headphones which helped motivate me as I wanted to test them out. I was always sceptical of wireless headphones and whether they would stay in my ears. These are great and I can’t fault the sound quality. You can check them out here (affiliate link).
Next week I plan to run longer distances, and hopefully make it more more than twice!
