Ok so I realise it’s now February, and it’s a bit late to be doing a 2018 gluten free round up but I had the idea in my head and can’t ignore it.
I really pushed myself to try new places in 2018 and, although I didn’t quite tick everywhere I wanted to visit off my list, I managed to get round a few. So here are my favourite foodie finds of 2018.
Honest Burger
Honest Burger had been on my list to try for quite some time but I always managed to just miss out on a visit. Thanks to my fellow gluten free friend Holly for ensuring I made it there this year! The burgers are amazing and the fries and onion rings are all gluten free too. It’s just a shame that it’s so far to travel and that there isn’t one in Glasgow. I keep tweeting them about opening up north of the border so maybe they’ll get the hint one day…

Miller & Carter
Oh my the steak here is AMAZING! I went to Miller & Carter for my birthday last year and it was just incredible. The food was delicious and there were lots of gluten free options – the gravy being a particular highlight of mine. The ones local to me can do gluten free chips in a dedicated fryer but sadly not all locations have that so you need to check.

Yorica
Didn’t know how much I needed a gluten free dessert parlour in my life until I visited Yorica. It’s in London, so again a fair trek away from me but worth it for a visit every time I go down. The options are endless as everything on the premises is gluten free.

Roma to Go/Roma to Stay
This is a wee local one for me. Based in Linwood, Roma to Stay and Roma to Go offer gluten free options for sit in and takeaway. This is super handy for me as my cheerleading gym is just up the road. I love grabbing a takeaway pizza after practice. They do gluten free pizza and pasta dishes and can adapt lots of other things on the menu. Only disadvantage is that you can’t order gluten free options for takeaway on the app – you need to phone or go in.

Full review coming soon.
My Old Dutch
This was a great wee find in London. My Old Dutch do large thin pancakes gluten free which you can have sweet or savoury. I was weirdly intrigued and I had a Hawaiian one which was basically like pizza but on a pancake and with no tomato sauce! It was great though and I’ll definitely be back on future trips to London.

Full review coming soon.
Usha’s
Usha’s on Byre’s Road is a great little Indian street food place and nearly everything on the menu is gluten free. It’s tapas style so you can order a variety of small plates to share, or choose to have a larger dish. I LOVE the pakora. I’d actually never had pakora before coming to Usha so it was very exciting.

Banana Leaf
Another little Glasgow West End discovery! A takeaway menu for Banana Leaf dropped through our door when we lived locally and I thought to give it a try one night. I had the lemon chicken which was incredible and I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. Sadly we don’t live in the area any more but they have a full sit down restaurant.

Have you tried anywhere new this year? Let me know in the comments!
Great post! I’ve now added Roma and Banana Leaf to my list of places to try! I’ll have to blame you for the extra few inches on my waist line…
Roma is so handy for me and it’s so tempting not to go at least twice a week! Enjoy! 🙂
